Play Blackjack For Fun - Don't Expect to Win Though
There is this strange myth about blackjack. People seem to think that with experience and expertise it is possible to win at the game.
Short term it is, long term it is not. The casinos have set-up the rules so that long-term they have to win. And good on them too - if people are silly enough to keep on giving away their money to smarter people then so be it.
The stats I have heard are as follows:
If you're a reasonably intelligent person and play using your natural judgement, over the long term you will lose 5% of your money.
If you learn the mathematically correct response to every situation and apply it, over the long term you'll lose 1%.
If you apply a card-counting system to the mathematically correct response and adjust the size of your bets accordingly you'll win 1%. Given that the casinos will kick you out if you do this with any success it is clear this game is a dead-end.
So any betting tips you hear that are not warnings to just play for fun and with small amounts are from people who are either a bit slow, or trying to sell you a dodgy betting system.
